#ECHELON Tour Review: Bilbao, Spain

Bilbao, Spain — July 9, 2011
By Nerea González

My first travel to Mars, my first Thirty Seconds To Mars show was the 9th of July 2011 in the Bilbao BBK Live festival in Spain.

I went to the concert with my two best friends and we had to travel a long way. We traveled by car for 2 hours and then we spent 6 hours on a bus to go to Bilbao. It was a long travel but the wait was worth it, because our dream of watching Thirty Seconds To Mars live became true.

We arrived to the festival at 15:00. We had a meeting with other Echelon to attend to the concert, and it was incredible meeting another part of this awesome cult.

After waiting for four or five hours, the show began. I was so excited and I couldn’t believe that I was there, in the third row, to see Mars. The lights turned off and the drums started to play Escape and Shannon came to the stage and I started screaming like I’ve never done before. After that Tomo appears with his awesome guitar. Jared stared singing Escape behind the stage and in the “This Is War” part, he ran to the front of the stage and started the amazing show. I sang, screamed and jumped to touch the sky like no tomorrow. It was a insane chaos.

My favourite song to hear live was Kings and Queens, because Tomo’s guitar riffs were amazing, Shannon at the drums was insane like an animal and Jared’s vocals were awesome. The Echelon at stage were incredible and the song’s lyrics are awesome and all the crowd singing with Mars at the same time like one person, was incredible and so exciting.

Mars in live was amazing because they tried to make all the people move and they were so happy doing it that they made us go crazy. They made me go to Mars while the show lasted. It was the best day of my life.

The whole show was memorable, but one of the most memorable moments was when Mars was playing Search and Destroy and in the chorus my friends and I threw the confetti that we had, over all of us, letting it fly to the sky. Tomo at the guitar, Shannon on drums, Jared’s voice, the confetti into the air and over our heads, the Echelon singing as loud as possible… It was amazing. It was the best night ever.

I’ll never forget that night when I went to Mars with Jared, Shannon, Tomo and the Echelon.

Tomo, Jared and Shannon thank you so much for doing what you do, for leting me see the positive side of the life and for making me follow my dreams and never given up.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
